Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Cambodian Dragon Tree - Dracaena cambodiana
Narrow, arching sword-shaped leaves sit in tight rosettes at the end of pale branching trunks, giving Dracaena cambodiana a lighter, more open silhouette than its heavier dragon tree relatives. It suits designers who want the branching succulent-tree look but with finer foliage texture, and it holds that structure through drought, heat and reflected glare with almost no maintenance.
Why Cambodian Dragon Tree
Fine leaf texture: Narrower leaves than most dragon trees give a softer, more feathered head on each branch.
Branching trunks: Repeated forking with age creates the multi-headed candelabra outline that makes older plants valuable.
Pale bark: Smooth grey to fawn trunks read cleanly against dark walls and rendered surfaces.
Drought endurance: It stores water in its trunk and stems and needs very little irrigation once settled.
Compact roots: A restrained, non-aggressive root system means it can be used close to structures and paving.
Ideal Applications
Entry and gateway specimen: A single branched plant framing a doorway, particularly when uplit from below.
Dry tropical planting: The upper layer above agaves, sansevieria, aloes and cycads in a low-water bed.
Rooftop and terrace containers: Handles wind, heat and restricted soil volume better than most feature trees.
Commercial forecourts: Delivers immediate sculptural impact with negligible ongoing maintenance.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): Not a screening plant; group at 1.5 to 2.5m centres for a cluster
Spacing (feature/avenue): 3 to 4m
Best Planting Season: Spring through early autumn into warm soil
Soil & Drainage: Free-draining sandy or gritty soil. On clay sites plant high on a raised mound and keep sprinklers away from the base, as the trunk rots if kept wet.
Establishment Care: Water once a week for the first six to eight weeks to settle the root ball, then reduce and allow the soil to dry between waterings. Use gravel or coarse bark mulch, avoid heavy feeding, and protect from frost for the first few winters in cooler districts.
