Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Orange Crush Palm - Dypsis ‘Orange Crush’
Grown for colour rather than form, this Dypsis selection carries vivid orange crownshafts and leaf stems that hold their colour year round against deep green fronds. The clustering habit means the orange is repeated on every stem in the group, and against a dark green backdrop or a white wall the effect is closer to a piece of colour blocking than a conventional palm planting.
Why Orange Crush Palm
Crownshaft colour: Bright orange crownshafts and petioles are permanent, not a seasonal flush.
Clustering stems: Several stems at different heights repeat the colour and give an established grove effect.
Contrast value: The orange reads strongly against dark foliage, black mulch or rendered walls.
Moderate scale: It fills a courtyard corner without ever becoming a large tree to be managed.
Filtered light performance: Colour holds well in part shade, so it is not restricted to open sunny positions.
Ideal Applications
Colour accent in a tropical bed: Used deliberately where a hit of warm colour is needed among green foliage.
Feature corner planting: A single clump in a courtyard corner with uplighting to catch the crownshafts at night.
Resort and poolside groups: Planted in threes for a strong tropical composition around water.
Large container specimen: Well suited to substantial pots on covered terraces in warm climates.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 2 to 2.5m centres if used as a soft screen
Spacing (feature/avenue): 3 to 4m
Best Planting Season: Spring and summer, into warm soil
Soil & Drainage: Rich, free-draining soil with abundant organic matter and reliable summer moisture. It requires warmth and humidity, is frost tender, and dislikes hot dry wind.
Establishment Care: Water two to three times a week through the first warm season and keep the root zone consistently moist, since the crownshaft colour fades under drought stress. Mulch deeply away from the stems, feed with a controlled release palm fertiliser containing magnesium and potassium twice through the growing season, and shelter it from cold wind while young.
