Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Pink Adonicus Hibiscus - Hibiscus ‘Flamenco Adonicus Pink’
Pink is the most usable colour in the hibiscus palette because it sits comfortably beside almost any other planting, and this compact Adonicus form makes it easy to place. The plant is a short jointed, densely branched selection of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis that carries large single pink trumpets over dark glossy leaves and stays around 1.2m, so it can go into a mixed border without swamping its neighbours.
Why Pink Adonicus
Soft Pink Flowers: Large single blooms in clear pink, wide faced with a prominent central staminal column.
Free Flowering: Bud set is heavy and continuous through the warm months, unlike older varieties that flower in distinct flushes.
Neat Proportions: A tidy rounded shape that fits a mixed bed, a pot or a low hedge line without dominating.
Evergreen Cover: Foliage is retained through winter in frost free gardens, so the plant does not leave a gap in the border.
Feeding Response: It reacts quickly to potassium rich feeding with more buds, making its performance easy to influence.
Ideal Applications
Mixed Subtropical Borders: Blends easily with foliage plants where a stronger colour would fight for attention.
Courtyard Containers: Reliable long season colour in a pot on a sunny paved courtyard.
Informal Flowering Hedge: A row planted at 0.8m centres gives a soft boundary without formal clipping.
Coastal Gardens: Suited to frost free coastal positions with shelter from the strongest salt wind.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 0.7 to 0.9m
Spacing (feature/avenue): 1.2 to 1.5m
Best Planting Season: Spring and early summer
Soil & Drainage: Fertile, moisture retentive but free draining soil, pH 6 to 7
Establishment Care: Water two to three times weekly through the first summer and mulch to conserve moisture, keeping mulch clear of the trunk. Feed every four to six weeks from spring to early autumn, prune lightly in early spring to remove weak inner growth, and provide frost protection in cooler districts.
