Want to see the actual plant?
The photo shows this species, not the individual plant reserved for you. Send us an enquiry and we usually reply within 1 business day with photos of the actual stock available in the size you want.
Request photosHow tall it arrives: 400mm about 1.5 to 2.5m, 45L about 1.5 to 2.5m, 500L about 5 to 7m. Heights vary with species and season. How pot sizes work
Getting it in: the largest size here needs machine access rather than a doorway, and sometimes a lift over the roof. Measure the narrowest point on the route and tell us on the booking call. Standard access is included in the price, and anything unusual is quoted and agreed with you before work begins. What happens on installation day
Looking for a larger size?
Sizes shown are the sizes we currently source in this species. If you need larger specimens, project quantities or a size not listed, our sourcing team can look for it through our national supplier network. We confirm your exact stock with you on the booking call before anything ships.

Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Mast Tree - Polyalthia longifolia
Where a site needs height but has almost no width to give, this is the tree that solves it. Polyalthia longifolia, in the narrow weeping form usually offered in the Australian trade, holds a dense column of glossy pendulous leaves from near ground level to the top of the tree, so the screen is complete without any clipping. It replaces conifers such as pencil pines in warm and humid climates where those species sulk, and unlike them it keeps a soft rippling movement in the wind.
Why Mast Tree
Extreme Narrowness: A crown of only 2 to 3m across at 10m tall makes it viable in side setbacks and against boundary fences.
Screening From The Ground Up: Foliage is held to the base, so there is no bare trunk gap to plant out.
Copper New Growth: Flushes of soft coppery pink foliage appear several times through the warm season.
Wind Tolerance: The flexible pendulous leaves spill wind rather than catching it, which suits exposed coastal and high rise podium sites.
Humidity Proof: Thrives in the heat and humidity of Brisbane, Darwin and coastal New South Wales where many formal screening trees fail.
Ideal Applications
Boundary Screening: Planted in a tight row to block an overlooking neighbour without stealing garden space.
Driveway Avenue: Repeated at even spacing for a formal processional entry.
Framing Architecture: Paired either side of a facade or portico to emphasise vertical lines.
Resort and Poolside Planting: Gives tropical height around pools and cabanas without a spreading canopy.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 1.5 to 2.5m for a solid green wall
Spacing (feature/avenue): 3 to 4m for defined individual columns
Best Planting Season: Spring through autumn in warm zones, avoiding the coldest weeks
Soil & Drainage: Deep, free draining soil with organic matter. Tolerates a wide pH range but resents standing water around the root plate
Establishment Care: Keep water up through the first two summers, as the dense canopy transpires heavily and drought stress shows as leaf drop from the lower trunk. Mulch the full root zone to 75mm and feed with a balanced slow release fertiliser in spring to maintain leaf gloss and density.
