Overview & Specifications
Tuart Eucalyptus Gomphocephala
One of Western Australia's most commanding native trees, Tuart delivers an imposing canopy and exceptional longevity that few species can match. Advanced specimens establish with authority, bringing structural presence and deep regional character to high-value properties from day one.
Why Tuart
Canopy Scale: A broad, dense crown that creates significant shade and visual mass in large-scale landscapes.
Longevity: A species measured in centuries, representing a permanent landscape asset and a genuine long-term investment.
Coastal Resilience: Naturally adapted to coastal and limestone soils, performing where many species struggle.
Native Provenance: Iconic to the Swan Coastal Plain; brings authentic regional identity to Western Australian projects.
Wildlife Habitat: Supports native fauna including black cockatoos and honeyeaters, adding ecological value to prestige properties.
Ideal Applications
Statement Specimen: Positioned as a centrepiece tree on large residential or commercial properties requiring immediate presence.
Coastal Developments: Well suited to beachside and coastal projects where salt tolerance and wind resilience are essential.
Parkland & Estate Landscapes: Ideal for expansive rural or semi-rural properties where scale and permanence are the objective.
Ecological Planting: A cornerstone species for biodiversity-focused landscape projects across the Swan Coastal Plain.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (feature/avenue): 15–20m
Planting Season: Autumn to early winter
Soil & Drainage: Well-drained sandy or sandy loam soils; tolerates limestone and coastal sands; drought tolerant once established
Establishment Care: Water deeply every 2–3 weeks for the first two summers to encourage deep root development, then reduce to occasional watering as the tree is highly drought tolerant once established. Avoid overwatering or heavy clay soils as this species is sensitive to Phytophthora cinnamomi root rot.
