Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Aloe ‘Ivory Tower’
A hybrid Aloe grown for the pale flower spikes that give it its name, held well above a bold rosette of thick, upright, blue-green leaves. Where most landscape aloes deliver hot orange and red, this one flowers in ivory to soft cream, which lets it sit inside a restrained planting palette instead of dominating it. It flowers in the depths of winter, when almost nothing else in a dry garden is doing anything at all.
Why Aloe ‘Ivory Tower’
Winter Flowering: The main display arrives in the cold months, filling the gap between autumn and spring colour.
Pale Flower Colour: Ivory and cream spikes work with white, grey and green schemes where a red aloe would clash.
Bird Attracting: The nectar-rich tubular flowers bring honeyeaters into the garden through winter.
Minimal Water: Once settled it needs almost no supplementary irrigation in a well-drained bed.
Bold Rosette: Even out of flower, the thick upright leaves give year-round sculptural structure.
Ideal Applications
Dry Garden Massing: Repeated through gravel and grasses it gives structure and a winter colour event.
Coastal Banks: Handles salt wind, sandy soil and slope with almost no maintenance.
Feature Containers: The rosette form suits a broad shallow bowl or a raised pot near an entry.
Verge and Median Planting: Tough enough for hot, unirrigated public-facing beds.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 0.8-1m for a continuous mass
Spacing (feature/avenue): 1.2-1.5m
Best Planting Season: Spring through early autumn, avoiding cold wet soil
Soil & Drainage: Gritty, sandy and sharply drained. Aloes rot at the crown in soil that holds moisture, so raise beds on clay and slope the surface away from the plant.
Establishment Care: Water fortnightly through the first warm season to settle the roots, then rely largely on rainfall. Use gravel mulch rather than bark, keep it clear of the base of the rosette, and remove spent flower stems at the base once they finish.
