Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Aloe ‘Moonglow’
Most garden aloes flower orange or red, so a pale one is genuinely useful. ‘Moonglow’ carries tall spikes of soft cream to lemon yellow flowers above a compact toothed rosette, and it sits comfortably beside grey foliage and pale gravel without the visual heat of the orange forms. It belongs to the group of modern Aloe hybrids selected for heavy cool season flowering on a plant that stays garden sized.
Why Aloe ‘Moonglow’
Pale flower colour: Cream to lemon spikes are rare among garden aloes and read clearly at dusk.
Height contrast: Tall stems lift the flowers well clear of a low rosette, giving vertical interest in a flat bed.
Cool season display: Flowering runs through winter into early spring in most Australian districts.
Stays put: It clumps slowly and predictably rather than running through a bed.
Cut stems last: Flower spikes hold well indoors, unusual among succulents.
Ideal Applications
Pale toned dry gardens: Works with silver foliage, limestone and pale gravel where orange aloes would jar.
Path side repetition: Planted at intervals along a walk it gives rhythm at knee height.
Feature containers: A single clump in a shallow bowl flowers reliably with minimal care.
Verge and nature strip planting: Tolerates neglect, heat and no irrigation once established.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 0.6 to 0.8m
Spacing (feature/avenue): 1 to 1.2m
Best Planting Season: Spring through autumn
Soil & Drainage: Sharp drainage in sandy or gravelly soil; wet winter ground causes basal rot
Establishment Care: Water weekly for the first two months only, then taper to occasional deep soaks in summer and nothing over winter. Mulch with gravel, keep the crown clear of leaf litter, and cut spent spikes back to the base to keep the clump tidy and encourage the next flush.
