Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Blue Moon Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum ‘Blue Moon’
This is the peace lily scaled up to landscape size. Spathiphyllum ‘Blue Moon’ forms a broad clump of large, deeply ribbed glossy leaves close to a metre high, topped by tall white spathes that stand clear of the foliage and slowly age to green. In shaded tropical gardens it does what hosta does in cool climates, holding a lush mass of leaf in low light where flowering plants simply will not perform.
Why Blue Moon
Scale: Considerably larger than the common small peace lilies, filling shaded beds without needing dozens of plants.
Deep Shade Performance: Holds dense glossy foliage in light levels that thin out most other flowering plants.
Repeat Flowering: A heavy spring flush of white spathes, then scattered blooms through the warm months.
Clean Habit: Old leaves are simply pulled from the base, with no woody structure to prune and no litter drop.
Indoor Capable: Equally at home in a large container in a bright interior or an atrium.
Ideal Applications
Shaded Garden Beds: Mass planted under palms, tree ferns and dense canopy in warm climates.
Courtyard Containers: A single clump in a large pot on a covered patio or in a light well.
Interior Landscaping: Lobbies, atriums and offices, where it is one of the few plants that flowers indoors.
Pool and Water Feature Surrounds: Tropical leaf texture in the shaded side of a pool garden.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): 0.7 to 0.9m for a continuous mass planted bed
Spacing (feature/avenue): 1 to 1.2m for distinct clumps
Best Planting Season: Spring through summer, once night temperatures are reliably mild
Soil & Drainage: Humus rich, moisture retentive but free draining. Work compost through the bed before planting
Establishment Care: Keep the soil consistently damp through the first season, as this plant wilts dramatically when dry and recovers slowly from repeated stress. Mulch to 50mm with fine composted material, feed lightly in spring and midsummer, and site it out of all direct sun, since even an hour of hot afternoon sun will bleach and scorch the leaves. Note that the sap is an irritant if chewed by pets or children.
