Overview & Specifications
Price includes everything: the plant, free delivery and professional installation by our planting team. One price, whole job done.
Agave titanota
Few succulents are collected as closely as this one, and the reason is the leaf: chalky white to pale blue, broad, stiff, and edged with heavy cinnamon to near-black teeth. Agave titanota stays compact and solitary, so unlike the suckering landscape agaves it holds a single clean rosette instead of building a colony. Forms vary widely in leaf width and tooth colour, which is exactly why serious collectors keep buying it.
Why Agave titanota
Leaf Colour: The powdery white to silver-blue leaf surface holds colour year round and lifts dark gravel and stone.
Tooth Armature: Thick, hooked marginal teeth in rust to charcoal tones make the leaf outline read from several metres away.
Solitary Habit: It offsets only sparingly, so the specimen you plant stays a specimen.
Container Suitability: Its slow rate and small root volume make it one of the best agaves for a long-term pot.
Sun Hardiness: The waxy leaf coating handles full Australian sun and reflected heat without bleaching out.
Ideal Applications
Feature Pot: A single rosette in a shallow wide bowl, lifted onto a plinth, is the classic way to display it.
Succulent Rockery: Combines with aloes, dasylirion and euphorbias in a fast-draining rock garden.
Courtyard Focal Point: Its scale suits small hard-paved spaces where a large agave would dominate.
Modern Entry Beds: Repeated through pale gravel it gives structure without maintenance or irrigation.
Specimen & Installation
Spacing (screening/hedge): Not a hedging or screening plant. In drifts allow 0.8 to 1m between rosettes.
Spacing (feature/avenue): 1.2 to 2m where repeated as a rhythm.
Best Planting Season: Warm months, from mid spring to early autumn.
Soil & Drainage: Extremely free-draining gritty soil. It is far less tolerant of summer humidity and wet feet than most agaves, so raise the crown above surrounding grade.
Establishment Care: Water only when the root zone is completely dry, and stop supplementary watering through winter altogether. Use a mineral mulch, keep drip lines away from the centre of the rosette, and avoid overhead sprinklers that leave water sitting between the leaves.
